Cookie Policy
Effective July 15, 2026
Halo.LGBT ("Halo", "we") uses a small number of cookies to run the site and, only with your consent, to understand how it's used. This page lists every cookie we're aware of, what it's for, and how long it lasts.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small piece of data a website stores in your browser so it can recognize you or remember something across page loads or visits — for example, keeping you signed in, or remembering a choice you made.
Strictly necessary (always active)
These cookies are required for Halo to work and can't be switched off.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
__session |
Auth0 | Keeps you signed in | Refreshes automatically while you're active; expires after 1 day of inactivity, or after 3 days regardless of activity. You'll need to sign in again after 30 days of inactivity, or after 365 days at the most. |
__txn_{state} |
Auth0 | Temporary cookie used only during sign-in; deleted once it completes | 1 hour |
halo_cookie_consent |
halolgbt.com | Remembers your cookie choice so we don't ask again on every visit | 180 days |
Optional — only set with your consent
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Google LLC (Google Analytics 4, loaded via our Google Tag Manager container) | Distinguishes unique visitors so we can see aggregate usage (how many people visit, which pages) | 2 years |
_ga_<container-id> |
Google LLC (Google Analytics 4, same tag as above) | Persists session state so GA4 counts sessions correctly | 2 years |
| Google Maps cookies | Google LLC | Loads Google's Maps SDK to show the event map and location pickers | Set by Google |
Halo only loads Google Analytics and Google Maps after you accept optional cookies via the banner. If you reject, or haven't chosen yet, neither is requested — you'll see a simplified location experience without the interactive map until you accept. We keep Google Signals, ad personalization, and granular location data collection switched off in our Google Analytics settings.
A tool that doesn't set cookies
Halo uses GlitchTip, an error-monitoring tool, to catch and fix bugs. It runs in your browser but does not set any cookie or use browser storage — it only sends technical error data when something breaks. We mention it here for transparency.
How to change your choice
You can change your mind at any time using the "Cookie preferences" button shown on every page, or by clearing the halo_cookie_consent cookie in your browser settings.
